MPs call for jobs programme in areas of high unemployment

13 Jun 2019

Dear Amber,

We are writing to request the immediate introduction of a jobs programme to tackle unemployment in our constituencies.

This letter is prompted by the most recent labour market data which show that, beneath the headlines, unemployment is stuck at seven per cent or above in the areas we represent. For all too many of our constituents, it feels like we are in a recession. Clearly demand for workers is failing to reach these areas and we need the Government to step in.

Will you therefore bring forward new measures please specifically to create new jobs in these areas of high unemployment, to prevent many thousands of our constituents from being thrown onto the scrapheap?

Best wishes and we look forward to hearing from you,

The Rt Hon Frank Field MP
Emma Lewell-Buck MP
Grahame Morris MP
