Don’t send Oxton to the dogs

29 February 2012
Matthew Patrick Chair of the Oxton Labour Action Team, Matthew Patrick is holding a public meeting on Friday 9th March, 7:30pm, at the Trinity with Palm Grove Church (63 Alton Road, Oxton, CH43 1UZ), following complaints about dog fouling.

Frank, who has been working closely with Matthew Patrick, will also attend the meeting to speak with local residents about their concerns.

Frank said: “Oxton is a beautiful place and we need to keep it that way. I am hoping we will get from the meeting a network of volunteers who report dog fouling to the council and monitor progress. This meeting will be an excellent opportunity for Matthew and I to speak with Oxton residents about this and other issues, continuing Matthew’s hard work in the area”.

Matthew Patrick, who stood as the Labour Party candidate in Oxton last year and has continued working in the area, says: “I am delighted to be able to call upon the experience and support of Frank Field in dealing with issues for residents. I regularly take to the streets to speak with residents in Oxton and find out what issues are bothering them. Time and time again the issue of dog fouling has arisen, so I contacted Frank to arrange this meeting”.

Also in attendance will be a former cabinet member in the local council, Brian Kenny, and an officer from the council. Their attendance will ensure the meeting is well informed. The meeting, whilst initially set up for the issue of dog fouling, is likely to address a whole host of other issues that have been raised with the Labour Party in Oxton, including: foxes, roads, waste collection. Refreshments will be made available for those attending.
